A new restaurant with arguably the best view of the city has opened at Carrick Hill.

Part of a new $7.2m function centre that opened late last year, the casual dining restaurant named Rozelle’s is a partnership with the family behind the iconic Adelaide restaurant Chianti and Bar Torino.

Rozelle’s focuses on wood-fire oven pizza, antipasti, shared lunches with a menu inspired by the best of European summer food.

The menu comes from executive chef Josh Cooke, who trained under legendary chef Rick Stein and worked alongside the renowned Jock Zonfillo as head chef at Adelaide institution, Orana.

The balcony of Rozelle’s – part of The Pavilion, a function centre for about 200 people – overlooks the gardens of Carrick Hill and the city.

Behind the venue is Jessica Favaro-Richards and Nicholas Favaro, who said Rozelle’s was about bringing European summer vibes to the beautiful outskirts of Adelaide.

“Anticipate a menu driven by our family’s love of food, flavours, sharing and creating good times,” Mrs Favaro-Richards said.

“The menu is everything we love about relaxed Italian food and dining – it’s is our celebration and interpretation of the best parts of summer in Europe.

“Rozelle’s will have a wine list that matches its wholesome flavours featuring favourite local producers for visitors.

“More than anything, Rozelle’s will be about celebrating great food in good company.”

The restaurant is the next phase of the Favaro Group of venues as the due take over the venues the family have worked to establish.

Rozelle’s will be the third venue in the portfolio alongside The Pavilion, the function centre hosting special events and weddings at Carrick Hill that opened late 2023.

The state and federal governments jointly funded $7.2 million restaurant and function centre, with Carrick Hill Development Foundation, which provided more than $3m.

Carrick Hill director Susan McCormack said the partnership with the Favaro group paid homage to the hospitality of the Hayward family who built and lived in Carrick Hill before giving it to the people of South Australia.

“The Favaro Group is known for their exceptional focus on service, their family ethos and their love of hosting and presenting great food to guests,” she said.

“The Haywards were famous for these qualities too. We cannot imagine bringing a better partnership to Carrick Hill and seeing it come to life within this new venue.”

Arts Minister Andrea Michaels said: “The Malinauskas Government invested $1 million to support the construction of the new pavilion where Rozelle’s is located and the combination of stunning scenery, remarkable artworks and delicious Italian food is sure to make for an unforgettable cultural experience.”

Rozelle’s will be open Wednesday to Sunday as well as on most public holidays from 10am-4:30pm. It will also be available for private hire outside Carrick Hill opening hours.
