Festival Tower’s versatile new restaurant will combine casual dining with world-class cuisine when it launches next week.

Station Road, a French-inspired eatery with acclaimed chef Baine Stubbs at the helm, will finally open its doors on the ground floor of the CBD tower on Thursday.

General manager and co-owner Mathieu Smeysters said he’s confident the venue will become be a “longstanding destination in the Adelaide hospitality scene”.

“I love the versatility of our offerings catering to diners looking for a multi-course meal as well as those looking to enjoy a few wines and snacks without the need to make a booking,” said Mr Smeysters, who’s also behind East End Cellars.

Among the dishes on the menu include Queensland tiger prawns and Nduja tempura with warm tartare, a campanelle pasta with miso, pecorino and chilli, and southern rock lobster cannelloni with serrano ham and sauce mornay.

Originally from New Zealand, Mr Stubbs worked at Shannon Bennett’s fine diner Vue de monde in Melbourne before moving to Paris, where he was head chef of Elsworth, a restaurant located inside the Louvre museum.

The restaurant, by Studio Nine Architects and FDC Construction, features a central marble bar and a dining room with booth seating and high tables, plus a dedicated wine room.

Outdoor alfresco dining on Festival Plaza will also be available on warmer nights.

The Walker Corporation building officially launched in early August.

Walker Corporation managing director and chief executive David Gallant said Station Road will “raise the bar” for dining in Adelaide.

“Like the best squares in the world, our vision for Festival Plaza was to see it buzzing with people enjoying great South Australian food and wine in the heart of the Riverbank precinct,” he said.

“We hope to see our Festival Tower tenants enjoying Station Road for lunchtime catch ups, client entertainment and after work dinners with family and friends over the coming months.”
