Another iconic Adelaide eatery closes its doors

The owners of a popular burger bar in the Adelaide’s western suburbs have announced its sudden closure.

Beefcakes and Shakes, at Grange on Grange Road, has shut its doors permanently, with a social media post on the business’s social media accounts revealing its final day of trade was on Sunday.

“We are officially closed as of Sunday the 8th. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our loyal customers and regulars who supported us throughout the years,” the post said.

“It has truly been a wonderful journey, and we are grateful for the memories we’ve shared.”

Launched in 2020 by Jamie Wimmer, the American-style eatery earned a huge following thanks to its innovative burger creations.

These included a Krispy Kreme Burger, a Mi Goreng Burger and even a lasanga burger, which was a special collaboration with Enzo’s At Home.

The Instagrammable offerings garnered more than 11,000 followers on the social media platform, plus thousands more on Facebook.

Last year, Mr Wimmer left the family-run business to focus on his taco-focused eatery, Beefy Birrias, where he hit the headlines with a controversial ad campaign featuring a pair of OnlyFans creators.

The risque advertisements received some negative feedback from the public but Mr Wimmer said in October that he didn’t regret the move.
