Bottega Gelateria offering one lucky customer a lifetime of gelato to celebrate the opening of their second store

Want to win a lifetime supply of delicious gelato? Adelaide’s Bottega Gelateria is opening a second store and they’re offering an incredible prize to celebrate. See how to enter.

What does it take to make the world's best gelato?

Imagine never having to pay for gelato ever again.

That dream will become a reality for one lucky person thanks to Bottega Gelateria’s co-owners Adriano Macri and wife Margherita Giustacchini.

To celebrate the launch of their second store in Glenelg on May 29, the couple are running a competition with the winner to receive a lifetime supply of their delicious artisan gelato.

“It’s a unique prize and has some wow factor. It’ll be a great treat for the lucky winner,” said Mr Macri.

The winner will also receive a $1000 custom gold pendant, designed by former Bachelor contestant, Adelaide jeweller Cassandra Mamone, which can be used to walk into a Bottega Gelateria shop and order a free cup or cone - once a day of the rest of their life.

If the lucky prizewinner orders three scoops each day for a year, they would have consumed $3212 worth of gelato, or an incredible $32,120 in a decade.

“It’s a quite significant prize but we wanted to do something big for the opening,” said Mr Macri, with the winner set to be announced on June 5.

Mr Macri, whose Henley Beach store is regularly packed during summer, said it was the right time to expand the business, which was part of his “long-term vision” for Bottega Gelateria.

Customers at their new Jetty Rd shop will enjoy the addition of two new exotic flavours - Yuzu citrus sorbet and salted Moroccan lemon - to go with their 10 traditional gelati.

“I’ve been fermenting lemons under sea salt in August 2016... and we’re going to incorporate this fermented lemon peel into a milk base with a hint of dulce de leche, and that’s the salted Moroccan lemon,” Mr Macri.

“The flavour to it is just crazy. That’s a very limited flavour.”

Gelati cakes and warm desserts will also be a focus, from gelati-filled brioche and crème brûlée to Italian hot chocolate.

Everything will continue to be made by hand, in-house, at the new store, Mr Macri said.

“We endeavour to really protect an old-world process which today has been lost in the industrialised world. This is a culinary approach to making gelati,” he said.

“What stands out is we make everything small batch, artisan, from scratch.”
