A floating cellar door devoted to gin has been announced for Port Vincent on the Yorke Peninsula.

In what’s believed to be an Australian first, the Dockside Port Vincent development – which includes luxury floating homes and waterfront houses – will partner with Flinders Gin.

The unique floating cellar door will boast 75 seats and alfresco pontoon and feature the Quorn-based distillery’s full range, including gin inspired by the Flinders Ranges native food and flavour profiles as well as local oysters and grazing platters.

Dockside Port Vincent project manager Peter Villis said the partnership with Flinders Gin was an important milestone for the housing and retail development.

“By securing Flinders Gin for our floating cellar door we can ensure that Dockside becomes a catalyst for regional tourism and service operators driving economic activity in the region,” he said.

“Visitors and locals will love relaxing over the water, drink in hand, with the region’s resident dolphins.”

Alby Trotta of Flinders Gin said the company was proud to bring its artisan gin to a new audience on the Yorke Peninsula.

“This venture at Port Vincent is also part of a major expansion program this year for us after just two years and includes us expanding our heritage home-base distillery in Quorn,” he said.

Construction of the new cellar door as well as the development’s nine floating homes is expected to start in late 2024, subject to development approval, to open in early 2024.

The $40 million project will be developed by Lillis Group over three areas – in addition to the floating homes and cellar door development, there will be a five-storey apartment complex with retail stores, cafes, co-working spaces, and eight townhouses, six of which will be facing the waterfront with access to a shared pontoon.
