Bluey fans outraged over ‘ridiculous’ $2,500 price tag for Bunnings Hammerbarn merch

"That's a lot of dollarbucks," one person pointed out after seeing the Bunnings items being sold on eBay.

28 minute Bluey episode trailer

If you have those famous Bluey garden gnomes on display at your house, you’re even luckier than you think.

It was no surprise the limited edition ornaments - otherwise known as “husbands” in reference to a scene from the show where the canine family visit a hardware store for a pizza oven - swiftly sold out last month at Bunnings after it temporarily rebranded a few of its stores to Hammerbarn, the name of said hardware store in the hit cartoon.

In fact, all of the merch that Bunnings sold, including pet plush toys, hats and tote bags, were gone in a flash, causing chaos and panic among the show’s legion of devoted fans, and tears for many youngsters who missed out.

Bluey fans fuming over prices online

Recently, members of the Bluey Fan Club Facebook group were outraged to see one set of the merchandise priced at a whopping $650 on auction portal, eBay.

“$650!!” commented Tiff. “Wow I knew this would happen. I only got one husband, I never even thought to buy extras to sell. People suck!”

Another fan, Melissa, was just as angry.

“Such a shame, little kids get so excited to go in store only miss out because of people like this. I get adults are fans and want them too but to buy them only to try to resell and this price ridiculous.”

Many others echoed their sentiments.

“That’s a lot of dollarbucks!” wrote Sania.

“That is so poo!” added Stacy. “Hate when people do this, then people actually bid on it.”

Another member’s opinion was expressed in the iconic meme from The Castle: ‘Tell him he’s dreaming’.

But $650 is just a few measly dollarbucks compared to other offerings on the auction site.

This eBay listing is selling the four garden gnomes (which retail for $19 each), two dog plush toys and tote for a gobsmacking price of $2,5000. Yes, for real life!

This listing for $900 is by a crazy stretch of the imagination, slightly better value since it includes the sold out Hammerbarn kids bucket hat which retails for a much more reasonable $7, plus some other goodies. Cheese and crackers!

Hammerbarn merch is coming back to Bunnings!

Fear not Bluey fans, it’s not all grim news.

Bunnings General Manager of Merchandise, Adrian Pearce, has confirmed to Kidspot that more merchandise will be dropping this year.

“We knew a husband for $19 was a great deal but the demand for Bluey garden gnomes exceeded our expectations with all stock now sold out,” he says.

“We’re disappointed to see a small number of people re-selling Bluey products online at inflated prices and we don’t support this behaviour in any way. However, we are excited to share that more Bluey garden gnomes will be back in all stores later this year. “

The only thing we can say to that is … Hooray!!
