A young landlord has defended her “impulsive” move to purchase her third home but her decision has sparked backlash.

A woman who was once dubbed “Australia’s most sexually active woman” has copped criticism after revealing that she had bought a $1.4 million dollar home impulsively.
Annie Knight is perhaps most famous for revealing that she’d slept with over 300 people in 12 months back in 2023.
She’s amassed a huge online following with more than 100,000 Instagram followers and she’s certainly not afraid to be honest.
The 27-year-old told realestate.com.au that she purchased a third home in Queensland because she was immediately taken with it.
“It’s the best impulse buy ever. I called the real estate agent and put in an offer, and the next thing I knew I had bought my third property,’ she said.
Ms Knight’s comments hit a nerve. Many are struggling amid the housing crisis, with the national median vacancy rate being 1.3 per cent, causing rents to soar.
On top of that interest rates are sitting at 4.35 per cent, and according to financial comparison website Finder, one in three borrowers, 32 per cent, are worried they will miss a repayment due to mortgage stress.
The home Ms Knight impulsively purchased has three-bedrooms and she plans to rent it out and renovate it.
Ms Knight started purchasing property in 2023 when she bought her first home that she still lives in for $750,000. Within the same year, she purchased a second property for $695,000 as an investment that she now rents out for $695.
Ms Knight’s admission that she purchased an entire home without thinking much about it didn’t go down so well with everyone.
In response to her admission, one anonymous person commented: “I hope the housing market crashes.”
Ms Knight posted the comment on her Instagram story and replied by not wishing the anonymous commenter well.
“I hope you step on 1,000 Lego pieces and just when you think you are in the clear you walk into a kitchen bench,” she said.
Ms Knight isn’t too bothered by the comment because she thinks people are just “jealous” that she’s in a position where she can afford to make snap decisions.
“I definitely think people get offended and jealous that I’m a rich, self-made woman. They could never dream of even buying one home so the fact I now have three makes them envious, hence all the hate I’ve received,” she told news.com.au.
The 27-year-old said that she understands why people might think buying a property suddenly is a bad idea, but it wasn’t one she had made lightly.
“I think impulse buying is usually a bad decision if you don’t look at the pros and cons of the purchase. However, even though everything happened so quickly, I did my due diligence and research, and I’ve bought in an excellent area with lots of land, so the reality is I couldn’t really go wrong,” she said.
Ms Knight said the decision also wasn’t out of nowhere she’d always been planning to buy a third property.
“I’ve been waiting for the right time to buy my third property and future dream home for 6 months and this property came up for a very reasonable price and I thought I’d be silly to let the opportunity pass.”
