One of the world’s top models, Adelaide’s own Adut Akech, has welcomed her first child.
The model, who turns 25 on Christmas Day, shared the news with her 1.8m Instagram followers saying: “Really someone’s mum and it’s the best feeling ever”.
“Thank you God.”
She didn’t share any other details in the post.
Adut previously spoke about her pregnancy journey to vogue.com.
She spoke about craving oranges and how it dawned on her – when she was home in Adelaide – that she might be expecting when she was “feeling like I was going to throw up”.
She announced her pregnancy with husband Samuel Elkhier on Instagram in August following months of speculation.
Sharing the news – alongside pregnancy pics – she wrote: “Beyond blessed and CANNOT wait to meet our bundle of joy!!!”.
Adut was raised in Adelaide after spending the early years of her life in a UN refugee camp in Kenya.
She made her runway debut at the age of 13, after her aunt, who owned a boutique, invited her to take part in a parade.
She was signed by Melbourne’s Chadwick Models at age 16 and within weeks made her Australian modelling debut at Sydney’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
