‘Beyond blessed’: Supermodel Adut Akech announces pregnancy
One of the world’s top models, Adelaide’s own Adut Akech, has been keeping a secret. She’s having a baby. Here’s all we know.

It could have been sheer madness but the growing speculation that supermodel Adut Akech was pregnant is correct.
The 24-year-old has shared her big news – and pregnancy pics – with her more than 1.8m followers on Instagram saying: “Beyond blessed and CANNOT wait to meet our bundle of joy!!!”.
Adut has talked about her pregnancy journey to vogue.com.
She spoke about craving oranges and how it dawned on her – when she was home in Adelaide – that she might be expecting when she was “feeling like I was going to throw up”.
“I always said I wanted to be a young mum because I love the idea of growing up with your kids,” she said.
Adut also said she would like at least four children. Vogue also said: “She’d also be cool with six, if some end up ‘twinning’.”
The announcement comes after months of rumours.
The talk started following Adut’s appearance in May at the Met Gala in New York City.
The Adelaide beauty, who came here from Africa as a child refugee, shared images of herself at the event; they were posted on Instagram.
The post was met with comments such as “She’s pregnant” and “My sister’s face and chest give pregnant”.
No one was sure and those close to Adut were staying mum.
But then she came to the party – a kind of global baby shower – and revealed that, yes, she and her fiance Samuel Elkhier were expecting.
At the Met Gala, Adut wore an all-lace ivory catsuit, with an overlay skirt and crushed velvet tiger lily by LaQuan Smith, who posed with her at the event that had the theme “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”.
Designed to embody both femininity and strength, Adut’s outfit had a large peek-a-boo cut-out and a wrap waist.
On March 10, she was snapped at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in a figure-hugging green gown by Valentino.
She was also the guest of honour at last year’s Melbourne Cup where she was dressed by Adelaide couture house Paolo Sebastian in a sleek mini dress with a draped tulle skirt.
Back in May when The Advertiser checked in with Joseph Tenni at Chadwick Models – her Aussie agency – he had only two words to say: “No comment.”
At the time a friend of Adut’s said they did not know but that she looked like she was “content”, adding that must be thanks to “Sam”, who is the supermodel’s high school sweetheart.
