The Killers Australia 2024 tour: Location, ticket and setlist details

The Killers are coming to Australia again and have a very popular John Farnham song in their sights to sing in our stadiums. See how to get best tickets and watch the video.

American big gig superstars The Killers may tackle an Aussie anthem during their Australian concerts in November and December.

Frontman Brandon Flowers and the band have been wildly popular here since breaking around the world with their 2004 debut album Hot Fuss and often play a cover during their Australian shows.

They romped through Midnight Oil’s King of the Mountain at their spectacular AFL Grand Final performance in 2017 and have covered Icehouse’s Electric Blue and Crowded House’s Don’t Dream It’s Over at shows.

Flowers said John Farnham’s signature classic You’re The Voice is on the list of cover ideas they are “batting around” for the Australian tour.

“That one’s on the list. It’s a tough one to sing though, it’s a high one,” he said.

The Killers frontman said the last time he had to tackle a song in that high range was when Elton John asked him to sing Tiny Dancer at the Glastonbury festival last year.

“The first thing I thought when he asked me to sing with him was the falsetto part; he doesn’t sing the high part anymore,” Flowers said.

“I dragged my feet a little bit when he asked me, and he started jabbing at me and was like ‘Whoa, you want to do Crocodile Rock?’ He’s so funny.

“And so I finally relented and did it and I hit the notes. I was happy ‘cuz you’ve got one shot.”

The band’s surprise return to Australia two years after their Imploding The Mirage tour will feature two different shows.

Fans in Sydney and Melbourne can choose between two gigs, with the first a Rebel Diamonds concert whose setlist is drawn from their greatest hits compilation.

And the second will be a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Hot Fuss in its entirety – with lots of other favourites thrown in.

They kick off the tour with their first ever show in Townsville at Country Bank Stadium on November 30 and will also play in Brisbane.

Flowers joked there will be a microphone waiting for Richmond legend Jack Riewoldt who stole the show with his performance of their monster hit Mr Brightside at the band’s gig after the 2017 AFL Grand Final.

“We’ll always leave a mic on the side of the stage for him if he wants to come back,” he said.

Flowers remains proud of that song which has clocked more than 2.2 billion streams on Spotify alone and is one of the most played tracks worldwide every year, 20 years after it was released as their debut single.

Academics have even researched the science behind its enduring appeal

“What’s even more incredible about it is that it’s done it on its own,” he said.

“There was no Grammy, it wasn’t a No. 1 record, none of that stuff. It just stands on its own and I really am proud of that.”
