Taylor Swift has announced her Australian tour ... and it skips Adelaide

After months of speculation, Taylor Swift has announced she’s coming to Oz but sadly will skip Adelaide. It’s not going down well.

Adelaide’s Swifties woke up this morning to the sad news that Taylor Swift’s much-anticipated Australian tour would be taking in Sydney and Melbourne only.

After months of speculation Frontier Touring finally took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to announce that the American star would bring her acclaimed The Eras Tour to Australia in 2024.

“We’re enchanted to announce Taylor Swift is returning to Australia” Frontier wrote, also revealing that Swift’s special guest in Australia will be 24-year-old US singer Sabrina Carpenter.

The All Too Well singer will play two shows at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on February 16 and 17, before moving to Sydney’s Accor Stadium for a three-show run on the 23rd, 24th, and finishing up on the 25th.

The Eras Tour is Swift’s sixth headlining concert tour and she’s described it as a journey through all of her “musical eras”, paying tribute to all of her studio albums including her latest, Midnights, which was released last year.

It also covers the three albums released during the pandemic which were never given a tour - Lover in 2019 and Folklore and Evermore, which were both released in 2020.

While the news that Swift’s tour will only take in our two biggest cities was not unexpected, fans in Adelaide had been hoping for some last minute good news.

Even transport minister Tom Koutsantonis felt the disappointment, tweeting, “Who else is dealing with a distraught daughter this morning because @taylorswift13 is only touring Melbourne & Sydney? Yeah thought so.”

He later told 7NEWS he was “really disappointed” for his young daughter.

The tour’s small run means demand for tickets is likely to be at all-time high, with Swift fan jake (taylor’s version) pointing out on Twitter that “seeing Taylor Swift not announce a NZ show meaning on top of Perth, NT, Tasmania, Queensland and Adelaide trying for aus tickets we have a whole another country too”.

Adelaide fan @rileyswan wrote “Taylor Swift coming to Australia but not Adelaide … welp guess I’m not seeing her! So insane bc if anyone could fill out an Adelaide centre it’s taylor swift but alas”.

The earliest ticket sale for Swift’s Aussie shows will be in the American Express VIP Package pre-sale, which begins next Monday, June 26.

Two packages are available: It’s Been A Long Time Coming and Karma Is My Boyfriend.

From Wednesday, June 28, pre-sale tickets and VIP packages will be available through promoter Frontier Touring.

General ticket sales for the five Australian shows will begin on June 30. The Sydney leg will be available from 10am local time, with Melbourne on sale from 2pm.
