Feuding with her sister and offensive song lyrics haven’t distracted Sydney singer Amarni Skaf from her main goal.

Sydney singer Amarni Skaf isn’t afraid of ruffling feathers.

Feuding with her sister and offensive song lyrics aren’t distracting the 23-year-old from her big aim — becoming the top female artist on the planet.

“I feel like I am definitely in a lane that Australia has never seen before,” Skaf, who goes by her first name as a music artist, told Confidential.

“I want to be the best female artist in the world, and I am going to get there. It is definitely not going to be easy but I am ready.”

Earlier this year, police dropped a domestic violence charge against the Sydney rapper and influencer after her sister, Aisha, refused to turn up to court.

In November last year, Skaf copped backlash from the Muslim community for her “disrespectful” single Mashallah, which is an Arabic phrase meaning ‘what God has willed’.

“As long as you are authentically yourself, I feel like everything is background noise,” she said. “If you are not getting hated on, you are not doing something right. Whenever you are doing something out of the ordinary or breaking generational curses, whatever it is, whenever you are doing something that a lot of people aren’t brave enough to do, the only thing they can do is hate. One thing I always say and it has never proved me wrong, is you will only ever be criticised by someone doing less than you. I try and remind myself of that. I can see past the hate.”

Of her sister, she said: “God bless her.”

The daughter of property investment Adviser Roy Skaf, of Macquarie York, is a street urban hip hop artist who has risen through the ranks of social media.

She has nearly 200,000 followers on Instagram, 266.000 on Tik Tok and 171,000 on Facebook. Her EP, F*** Love, Get Money, and lead single, Okay, are out now.

“I work for myself so I don’t have a time where I can clock off nine to five. I am literally working 24/7 and if I don’t wake up in the morning and work, I am not going to make any money. I have an addiction to work because I love it so much.

Skaf is an independent artist, although she has had discussions with major labels.

“I have had plenty of meetings with labels but I just want to build my own foundation,” she said.

“Honestly I really plan to stay independent, I would rather own all of my own masters and stuff like that. I am open to whatever is going to open more doors though, I will do whatever it takes.”
