South Australia to go into lockdown with Hollywood superstar Zac Efron, in town to shoot the Stan film Gold

If you’ve got to go into a state of lockdown with anyone, it might as well be with a Hollywood heart-throb, right? That was the feeling on social media after news of SA’s impending lockdown.

South Australians are about to go into lockdown with Zac Efron. Well, sort of.

News of a six-day, statewide shutdown designed to quickly crush a worrying COVID-19 outbreak prompted a flurry of tweets and Facebook posts from movie fans who remembered the dashing The Greatest Showman star has been in SA filming the new Stan Australia film Gold..

It’s unclear where Efron is currently, but the 33-year-old has been spotted around the city - including at a hip city bar and on a shopping spree in Rundle Mall last week.

Following today’s lockdown announcement, fans took to social media to express their excitement at the prospect of spending the next week in a state of lockdown with Efron.

“My city is going into lockdown and Zac Efron’s here. We really are all in this together,” Twitter user Lauren wrote.

Paige wrote: “The funniest thing about the circuit breaker lockdown is hands down the fact that Zac Efron is trapped with us because he was shooting a movie here”.

User Bbookeu tweeted: “It’s wonderful to know that when your state gets stuck in lockdown for a week, Zac Efron will be there with you. Sorry Zac but ‘we’re all in this together’.

Twitter user shaanaanne wondered whether a few strings had been pulled to try to get the hunky High School Musical star in South Australia for just a little while longer.

“Conspiracy theory: SA has made up these new sudden COVID case numbers to lockdown and keep Zac Efron in their state longer”.

Facebook user Kayla said the actor didn’t need to worry about having a place to stay.

“So like, is Zac Efron in Adelaide? Cause if he needs a place to quarantine I volunteer as tribute”.

Stan Australia was contacted for comment on the impact of the shutdown on the production of the film.

The movie tells the story of two drifters who stumble across the biggest gold nugget ever found, while travelling in the outback.
