Shock move for Farmer Wants a Wife faves Jo and Rob Hodges

When Jo and Rob fell in love on series two of Farmer Wants a Wife they won our hearts. Now they have a surprise announcement.

Farmer Wants A Wife 2023 finale

When Jo Fincham fell head over heels for Rob Hodges on Farmer Wants a Wife 15 years ago her life was up-ended.

When the series ended she quit her job as a newspaper photographer in Melbourne and moved to his Mt Gambier farm.

But in a move their fans would never have seen coming, Rob, 58, and Jo, 46, – who tied the knot in 2010 and have three kids, Darcy, 12, Maggie, 9, and Roy, 6 – have left South Australia for life in Queensland.

While they sold their farm in early 2022, the Hodges stayed in the South East before embarking on what Jo calls “our next chapter”.

Posting on Facebook and Instagram, Jo revealed her family was about to have “an exciting new adventure in 2024”.

“It’s no secret how much we love Noosa and the Sunshine Coast,” she wrote, adding: “After holidaying there for years, getting engaged on Little Cove beach, baby moons and then buying a beautiful place up there, our family is moving to live in Noosa in January, 2024.”

It turns out a big factor in their decision was their eldest child, daughter Darcy, who is a promising swimmer.

Jo explained: “Darcy has been accepted into an amazing swimming squad and all kids have been enrolled and accepted into school. This is a fantastic opportunity for Darcy and one that will help her reach her goals in swimming. How could we not take this opportunity?!”

Another reason for the sea change may be that it is a chance for Rob to stop and smell the roses, or rather frangipani, Noosa is famous for.

Rob had open-heart surgery last year to repair a leaky valve.

In her post Jo spoke for all her family saying they were “very excited, but feeling all the feels as well”.

She will, no doubt, be able to support her hubby and kids because she knows what it is like to uproot your life.

“I never would have dreamt of leaving Melbourne all those years ago,” she wrote, adding: “But, meeting Rob has welcomed so many adventures and created so many wonderful memories and opportunities.”

She then went on to outline a lot of what had happened during the past 15 years, in which she refers to her bestseller, Out of the Blue, in which she shared her experiences with depression, bulimia, self harm, obsessive compulsive behaviours and suicidal tendencies to help others.

“From leaving Melbourne, my family and friends, moving to live on a farm, writing an autobiography that reached #3 in Australia for nonfiction, starting my own photography business, starting a family, overcoming health issues and mental illness, starting my dream business at The Nook, Rob undergoing open heart surgery last year, selling our beautiful farm early last year, moving into Mount Gambier and now living in Noosa. What a ride! So many memories made and special moments.”

Jo also revealed that it was see you soon rather than goodbye to Mt Gambier, where the couple own a holistic business, which gives the local community access to yoga and pilates classes, a dietitian and counsellors.

“I will be travelling back to Mt Gambier every 5 weeks to teach classes at The Nook for 10 or so days at a time and our plan is to come back to Mount Gambier every school holidays and we are already planning Christmas and New Year here next year,” Jo wrote, adding she and Rob had no plans to sell The Nook.

“Mount Gambier is still so special to us so we plan on being here still throughout the year! Leaving friends physically is difficult. I have met some of my best friends here in Mount Gambier and the kids, too. But, we will make it work!

“The Nook is my passion and my commitment to return every 5 weeks is an easy choice as I could never stay away from her too long!”
