SA cricketer Nick Benton’s ready to paint Big Brother town red

Howzat! One of South Australian cricket’s greatest characters — Nick Benton is going to be stirring the pot on Big Brother.

Adelaide house painter Nicholas Bentonis not going to blend into the wallpaper on Big Brother.

While Confidential is yet to have a chat with the moustachioed redhead about his time on the Channel 7 series, we can tell you a bit about him.

His official Big Brother bio says he’s 29 and colour blind with “two beautiful females in his life – pet staffy Edwina and fianceeLara”.

Seven has also revealed that Nick will have a bromance on the show – that’s prerecorded rather than live because of COVID-19 – with “king of the jungle” DanielHayes, a 48-year-old real estate agent from Geelong.

But, of course, we recognised Nick as being one of South Australian cricket’s great characters – known and loved for his cheeky banter on and off the field – and a former Redback who played five first-class matches and three List A games.

The son of former state all-rounderJeffrey Benton, who played four first-class matches for SA from the 1977-78 to 1984-85 seasons, has also shown his talents as a poet on Twitter. A few years ago, he shared this ditty: “I wrote a poem about today’s beautiful exterior painting weather ... The winds are low; My painting’s slow. The flow of my brush; As the birds hush. What’s for lunch; KFC.”

Nick is one of three South Aussies on Big Brother which is coming to Channel 7 and 7 Plus soon.

Last month, we revealed farmer Melissa McGorman as one of them, with another to be announced any day now.

Seven is also going to be casting for a celebrity version of the series which will be called Big Brother VIP.
