Oscar winner Olivia Colman spotted in Adelaide ahead of upcoming film shoot

One of Hollywood’s most beloved heavyweights has reportedly been seen stretching out in SA – but what brings the Academy Award winner to town?

Rumours are flying that one of Hollywood’s most beloved heavyweights has been spotted in Adelaide – but details of her SA visit remain closely under wraps.

The Crown star Olivia Colman, 50, is understood to have arrived in Adelaide to film an upcoming project, with the Academy Award-winner reportedly sighted at a yoga studio on Friday.

SA film insiders were tight-lipped when asked about Colman’s visit to the City of Churches, but the megastar is slated to star in twisted romance Wicker with Adelaide regular Dev Patel – also an Oscar nominee – later this year.

Shooting for the film is scheduled for Europe in coming months, with Colman to star as a “smelly, single and perpetually ridiculed” fisherwoman who commissions herself a husband to be made of wicker sticks (Patel).

While Colman’s movements are as-yet unknown, there’s a high chance she might appear at some of celebrity visitors’ favourite spots – including up-market CBD diner Fugazzi.

If she chose to venture further east in the city, she’d be in the company of the Foo Fighters, who enjoyed a private Africola meal at the Exeter in December, as well as Novak Djokovic, Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon and Katy Perry.

In 2018, Colman won the Best Actress gong at the Academy Awards for her portrayal of Anne, Queen of Great Britain in the black comedy film The Favourite and, from 2019 to 2020, became a fan favourite for her role as Queen Elizabeth in The Crown.

The 50-year-old is the latest big film-hitter to spend time in Adelaide after Ozark star Julia Garner called SA home for a filming stint last year.

While in SA, Garner attended a Port Adelaide AFL game at Adelaide Oval, and was seen around town, including East End dining hotspot Golden Boy and The Grace Emily hotel in Waymouth St.
