Two men were arrested after more than 20 security guards swarmed them at the end of Foo Fighters’ Adelaide gig – as the band enjoyed a meal from a top CBD chef.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl was treated to a very special dinner by top Adelaide chef Duncan Welgemoed at a beloved Rundle St pub on Friday night, hours before a couple of concert goers ended their night in trouble.

Grohl was joined by bass guitarist Nate Mendel and other members of his entourage for the meal at The Exeter, the day before the US rock legends’ sold-out concert at Coopers Stadium on Saturday night.

Welgemoed told The Advertiser that he organised the dinner on the balcony of the iconic Adelaide venue after his own restaurant, Africola on East Terrace was “too booked out” to accommodate them on Friday.

“Dave and Nate are the most beautiful humans in music,” said Welgemoed.

The acclaimed chef later took to social media to share photos from the intimate event, describing Grohl as “the ultimate story teller and all round f**cking champion”.

“That was an insane 48 hours. Managed to tick off some big items on the bucket list, cooked a private dinner for the Foo Fighters, at the best pub in the world, the Exeter, with some of my favourite people in the world, with the best winery in the world – Ochota barrels,” he captioned the post.

“The Foos then put on the best show I’ve ever seen them play.”

Welgemoed’s award-winning Africola has been frequented by many famous celebrities visiting Adelaide.

Tennis legend Novak Djokovic ate at the popular eatery with a friend on December 28, 2022, and returned on New Year’s Eve during the Adelaide International tournament.

Bon Iver’s frontman Justin Vernon also dined at the top East End restaurant ahead of his WOMADelaide gig in March this year.

US pop star Katy Perry was another big-name guest at Africola back in 2014, when she visited the eatery with her then-boyfriend, US DJ Diplo, who was touring in SA.

Several hours later, two men were arrested following an incident at the end of the band’s concert at Coopers Stadium.

Footage shows more than 20 security guards swarm the two men before detaining them on the stadium floor.

Police later issued the 41-year-old man from Salisbury East and 46-year-old man from Ingle Farm adult cautions for disorderly behaviour.
