Nine’s weekend sports presenter Josh Money has quit the station to take up the vacant position in Seven Adelaide’s sports team.
Money will replace Theo Doropoulos, who is heading to Victoria to join 7NEWS Melbourne, helping to fill the shoes of outgoing chief AFL reporter Tom Browne.
7NEWS director Chris Salter said Money, 31, who’s been with Nine since March 2021, was the perfect addition to their sports line-up.
“We’re thrilled Josh is joining our newsroom,” he said.
“He lives and breathes sport and we’re confident his tenacious yet down-to-earth approach will be warmly welcomed by Seven viewers.”
It’s expected he will continue at Nine for another five weeks and start at 7NEWS in mid-December.
A polished performer in front of the camera, Money was understood to be the frontrunner for the position. He declined to comment when contacted by The Advertiser.
The Perth-born journalist has been in Adelaide for almost seven years and has worked for all the major stations, including Ten, Nine, ABC and Fox Sports.
He’s married to Ten weather presenter Tiffany Warne.
Speculation has been growing in recent days over who would secure the plum role with Seven, with big names including Warren Tredrea, Jade Robran and Ten’s Max Burford believed to be in the mix.
Last week, Salter said his phone had been “ringing hot”, and described the position as a “dream job” for sports journalists.
“I’ve fielded calls from across Australia – from ex-AFL players, Olympians and experienced broadcasters,” he said.
“Given Seven is the home of sport here in Adelaide, it’s a dream job for sports reporters.”
