It is the McLeod’s Daughters reunion we didn’t see coming. Actors Bridie Carter and Myles Pollard have joined forces to launch a production company together 14 years after production wrapped on the TV drama.

The pair played much-loved couple Tess McLeod and Nick Ryan on the show that is still broadcast around the world.

“That of course was one of the greatest and longest love stories, one of the biggest weddings ever in Australian television history,” Carter told Confidential.

“It was a really profound working relationship. I suppose Myles and I always had the same work ethic. We were NIDA trained so we had incredible discipline — every scene we came to, we always wanted it to be the best it could be.”

Fast forward to 2020, with COVID decimating the entertainment industry, the pair decided it was time to take matters into their own hands.

The result of many discussions over the phone — Pollard is based in Perth while Carter is in the Byron Bay area — led to the creation of production company, Homeland Entertainment.

The first project is a debut new film titled A Walk In The Park.

“I could never have picked this but that is most things in my life,” Carter said. “We found ourselves pondering the uncertainty created by COVID-19 across the world and were motivated to search for a universal story we could take to the world somehow. With travel bans and isolation orders in place
a very special story ended up finding its way to us. Through a remarkable set of circumstances we were offered a script written especially for us, by an American writer, Robert Lewis Vaughan.”

The film will be released next year and on December 20 Carter and Pollard will launch the company via a ticketed live- streamed event. The aim will be to continue producing and releasing projects.

“We want to tell stories that we connect with that we know others will as well,” Carter said.
