He is enjoying something of a popularity surge on the back of his role as “chief agitator” on SAS Australia, but it seems Firass Dirani is pulling the shutters down on some media commitments — much to the frustration of some at Channel 7.

Contacted this week to discuss his role as the top-rating “survival” show’s resident villain, Dirani said he would be keeping all of his future comments to his personal Instagram account after copping flak from some SAS co-stars.

“As hilarious as this circus is I just don’t want to feed it any more,” Dirani replied in Sunday Confidential’s DMs.

“If I want to say something I will say it here, on my Instagram.”

However the former Underbelly headliner still managed to throw a little bit of shade at some of his SAS haters, adding: “But don’t think I am dodging. There may be more important things than me being truthful on a fabricated reality TV show.”

Meanwhile Confidential hears Dirani’s reluctance to engage with the media has ruffled some feathers at Seven, with one insider claiming his behaviour has a few “higher-ups” pulling their hair out.

“He likes to go off-script but they’re not crazy about how that is reflecting on the show. It’s not really the kind of publicity they want (at Seven),” a network source said.

AGRO IN SHOCK TV COLLAB

Naughty TV puppet Agro will star in an unlikely collaboration with Dr Chris Brown — with the jungle drums hinting he may also enter the wilds of Ten’s I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here, which is co-hosted by the popular TV vet.

The pair are teaming up for the latest Uber Eats “Tonight I’ll Be Eating” promotion.

Kim Kardashian, Magda Szubanski, Serena Williams and Nick Kyrgios featured in previous campaigns.

“I’d never met the man before, and I thought I’d be working with a wooden vet,” Agro told Confidential. “He’s professional, he’s good looking, and he has a personality and a jaw to match.”

The 2021 season of I’m A Celebrity ... is set for January and will be shot on a new site in northern NSW.

A Network 10 spokesman said: “While we can neither confirm nor deny if our furry friend Agro will be the jungle puppet master, our hand will be revealed on Sunday, January 3.”
