Talk about opposite TV worlds colliding.
Married At First Sight’s ousted bride Sandy Jawanda has revealed someone from The Project “slid into” her Instagram direct messages following her departure from the Nine series.
Radio trio Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald, Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli and Kate Ritchie hosted Nova’s annual MAFS dinner party in Sydney on Thursday night, which was attended by most of this year’s cast, including Sandy, who exited the show two weeks ago after copping the cold shoulder from her TV ‘husband’ Dan Hunjas.
Ritchie, who officially joined Fitzy & Wippa earlier this month from her national drive show, quizzed Sandy during a Q&A segment at the party, asking whether any famous people had “slid into her DMs”.
“Maybe,” Sandy said, before she was prodded by the trio eager to find out who she was talking about.
“TV [personality] … That’s all I’m saying,” Sandy said, before adding, “Just think, 7pm, [The] Project.”
Wippa then dropped comedian Tommy Little’s name, which was met with silence from Sandy.
“Ohhhhh Tommy! Tommy’s a lovely guy,” Wippa said.
Sandy didn’t confirm or deny whether or not she was talking about Little, who was just yesterday linked to his radio co-host, Carrie Bickmore, whose ex-partner Chris Walker took to social media fanning the flames of the unfounded romance rumour.
Meanwhile, the former bride was joined at the dinner party, hosted at The Grounds of Alexandria, by a cohort of her fellow MAFS contestants, with Tahnee Cook and Ollie Skelton rocking up side-by-side – all but confirming they’re still going strong.
Melinda Willis and Layton Mills also hit the event together, leading many to believe they’ve made their relationship work on the outside.
Meanwhile, Harrison Boon attended solo, as well as Evelyn Ellis and Duncan James.
It comes after Sandy’s tumultuous time on MAFS, where she earned praise from viewers for her handling of a brutal situation.
The Victorian-based dental assistant, 36, broke down in tears on one of her last episodes earlier this month, after hearing news that Dan, 42, badmouthed her to fellow grooms during a night out.
Evelyn, 26, informed Sandy she overheard the “disrespectful” conversation after being pocket dialled, where she listened to Dan declaring he was “too good” for the experiment and his partner, before he bragged about how hot his ex-girlfriends were.
When it happened, Sandy and Dan had only just consummated their TV marriage.
The information completely broke Sandy’s heart, particularly considering she fell out with her strict, traditional Indian parents prior to entering the Channel 9 experiment.
“I went against my parents, my dad’s biggest concern was that I would come here and I would be disrespected and that’s exactly what happened,” Sandy said, struggling to speak through tears. “I just feel broken.”
