Viewers have been left wanting after the Married At First Sight finale failed to hold this season’s ‘villain’ Olivia Frazer accountable for her behaviour.
Monday night’s reunion ceremony saw the moment fans had been waiting for, as the group watched footage from throughout the experiment which exposed the 28-year-old teaching student admitting in a piece-to-camera to finding and leaking Domenica Calarco’s nude photo, as well as drastically inflating the story about the glass smashing incident.
MAFS expert John Aiken asked Olivia if she had “any regrets”, and despite not owning up to her shortfalls throughout the experiment, Olivia surprisingly said she did regret the way she spoke to Domenica as she broke down in tears.
But the various dramas involving Olivia – which consumed most of the series – were not addressed from there, as the episode quickly moved on from the brief segment about the brides’ staunch rivalry.
People have taken to social media to declare the episode “underwhelming”, as they expressed their disappointment that Olivia wasn’t held accountable for her “nasty” behaviour.
That was a little underwhelming, and I have no doubt that itâs because it had to be re-edited due to poor little Olivia being unable to deal with the fallout of her actions #MAFS#MAFSAU#MarriedAU

Well that was underwhelming to say the least. Barely scraped the surface of the nasty nasty things Olivia said. What a shame, anywayyy #mafs

So basically channel 9 made a whole season of MAFS displaying how disgusting Olivia and Tamara treated everyone and ended it by showing everyone if you cry instead of saying sorry you can get away with it LOL GREAT SHOW! not.#MAFSAU#MAFS

Was that it? I waited all week for Olivia to be grilled for 1 minute? Terrible. #MAFSAU#MAFS#MarriedAtFirstSightAus

What a flop Olivia didn't get the accountability treatment she was supposed to get #mafs#mafsau

Itâs totally irresponsible of CH9 to not hold Olivia accountable for her actions and have her apologise. It shows they endorse the behaviour and is further inciting all the hate sheâs getting. Theyâre not doing her any favours when all anyone wants is an apology #MAFSAU#MAFS

It comes after Olivia spoke out about facing intense public backlash after being cast as this season’s villain, admitting she felt “blindsided” by producers when the show went to air.
As the uproar surrounding her behaviour on the controversial reality show became deafening in recent weeks, the former teaching assistant opened up on Mamamia’s No Filter podcast how she was coping after receiving arguably the most extreme backlash ever faced by a MAFS contestant.
“I’m at the point now where I’m trying to get up off the floor … I’m at rock bottom, and I’m trying to get up,” she told podcast host Mia Freedman.
“And every time someone messages one of my loved ones something awful, I feel like I’m getting kicked back down. I’ve had death threats sent to my personal phone number … and I’ve had many on Facebook.
“It’s not just the show – if it was just the show, we could all just laugh and say, ‘Yeah that’s not Liv’s character, that’s a different story,’ but it’s the public believing it … it’s just the shock.”
During the finale, Olivia revealed she was still with her ‘husband’ Jackson Lonie, who recently moved in with her on the Central Coast in NSW.
