Viewers side with MAFS bride Domenica over ‘bully’ Olivia in glass-smashing incident
Controversial MAFS bride Olivia has labelled last night’s explosive argument which saw Dom smash a wine glass “appalling behaviour from women”.
MAFS bride Olivia has told Kyle and Jackie O she felt “sick to her stomach” watching Monday’s episode in which Domenica furiously smashed a wine glass during a heated argument.
Despite many viewers pointing out that Olivia had goaded Dom until she cracked, the bride seemed unable to recognise her role in the drama.
“It’s appalling behaviour from women. It’s gross,” she said of the scene, adding “it was disgusting” when Kyle directly referred to the glass-smash moment.
When asked whether things between the two women had reached a crescendo in the season already, Olivia hinted there’s more to come.
“I don’t think it gets worse than physical violence … but it escalates,” she said.
Elsewhere, speaking on Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa, Dom admitted she “110 per cent” regrets breaking the glass.
“I wish I’d never broken the glass,” she said.
“It was really like I had reached my boiling point. And I think everyone does have their breaking point and that was mine.”
She called last night’s episode “the catalyst” for what’s to come.
Monday night’s get-together descended into chaos during a fiery discussion between the two brides about the cheating saga plaguing the program.
But despite Domenica’s extreme reaction, viewers were quick to take her side, given Olivia’s cruel comment about her voice.
It comes after Dom had passionately spoken out against Carolina for her treatment of husband Dion – who she is secretly cheating on – prompting Olivia to call her a “bully”.
Many pointed out that it’s the second time Olivia has backed the guilty party on the program, having publicly chastised Holly when she was belittled by Andrew.
Others were startled by her confession that she’d once torn up a bridesmaid’s dress and sent it to her friend after she was kicked out of her wedding party. Speaking on radio today, Olivia stood by the move, describing her former friend as a “bridezilla”.
The argument began when Olivia told Dom to consider her tone while talking with the group.
“I just think you need to choose your words really carefully because when you swear, it comes off way more aggressive,” she said.
“I really hate being told to choose my words wisely. Guess what? I’ll choose my words. Because they’re my words,” Dom hit back as Olivia started to fume.
“I’m sick of hearing you. I’m sick of your voice yelling all the time. I’m bored of your voice,” said Olivia.
“So my voice isn’t OK?” asked Dom as Olivia continued to say she was “rude”.
“No, my entire life – I have been told my voice isn’t OK,” a rattled Dom responded, smashing her wine glass on the table in fury.
Over on Twitter, one viewer mused that the moment upset Dom so much because “children of migrants have dealt with been told our voices are not good enough by white people all our lives”.
Another echoed the sentiment, saying: “Olivia’s actions epitomise white privilege.”
Others called Olivia a “stereotypical bully” and “manipulative” for purposely pushing Dom’s buttons to incite an explosive response.
As a proud daughter of Greek immigrants whose parents came to Australia in search of a better life, Olivia's actions epitomise white privilege & everything they fought to overcome. Her behaviour & comments were disgusting, ignorant, unAustralian & nasty. Shame. #MAFSAU#mafs

Passive aggressive people are the WORST â Olivia is so unlikable. Dom has her flaws but theyâre backed with good intentions, her delivery is the problem #mafsau

Okay - Olivia is a petty snake!! The fact that she chopped up her bridesmaid dress is a HUGE RED FLAG. Itâs not your wedding, get over the dress! #mafs#MAFSAustralia#MAFSAU

Olivia tone policing while she's literally yelling in someone's face--the cognitive dissonance is astounding #mafs#MAFSAU

Holier-than-thou Olivia didn't mind calling out Holly, a victim, on the couch when the "experts" were involved but Dom needs to sit down and shut up when she's calling out a bully? Silence victims and defend abusers, right Olivia? #MAFSAustralia#GoDom#MAFSAUS#MAFSAU

Why does Olivia only get involved when someone is calling out toxic behaviour but she never says anything about the toxic behaviour? #mafs#mafsau

Olivia is a stereotypical bully. Finds a personâs weakness and goes straight for it #MAFSAU
