An Adelaide woman had a birthday she’ll never forget after Little Britain superstar David Walliams left a jaw-dropping message in her guest book.

The irreverent British comic was in town for two shows as part of his ‘An Audience with David Walliams’ national tour at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Saturday.

In between performances, he dropped into nearby Bowden restaurant Jarmer’s Kitchen for a meal, where he caught up with top Adelaide chef Chris Jarmer.

“Yeah he popped in for a schnitzel which he seemed to enjoy. He was great, he’s got a funny side to him,” Jarmer said.

“I gave him a bottle of Rockford Basket Press wine and suggested he visit the Barossa Valley if he gets the time.”

The two posed for a photo in the venue’s back room, when Walliams noticed they were setting up for a 21st birthday party later that night.

“I suggested he leave a little message in the guest book,” Jarmer, who’s also the Australian swimming team chef, said.

The funnyman grabbed a pen and after some thought, crafted a memorable note for the birthday girl, Liana.

“Dear Liana, happy 21st birthday!” he wrote in her guest book.

“Why didn’t you invite me you total cow?! David Walliams.”

At this stage, it’s unclear if the joke landed with Liana, with Jarmer telling The Advertiser that she wasn’t familiar with the British comedian.

“I don’t think she knew who he was,” Jarmer said.

It’s been an eventful Australian tour for Walliams, who had a testy exchange with radio jock Kyle Sandilands during a live interview.

The performer seemed genuinely shocked at some of the things the KIIS FM host said during the chat, and has since vowed never to return to the show.

Walliams, 53, is a multi-generational star, known more recently for his work as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and on Australia’s Got Talent.

He has sold more than 50 million copies of his hugely popular children’s books that have been translated into 53 languages.

Walliams is an Officer of the Order of the British Empire and has raised millions of dollars for charity.
