Kyle Sandilands left an explosive voicemail to Steve Price after the latter dubbed him a “buffoon” on national TV.
Price, 68, criticised Sandilands on The Project Wednesday night, in response to an announcement that the shock jock had signed a 10-year deal with Australian Radio Network worth $100 million, which will see his and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s show broadcast in Melbourne from next year.
Melbourne-based Price labelled Sandilands “a grubby buffoon” while speaking on the Ten current affairs program, adding he doesn’t think “grubby buffoons work in Melbourne.”
Sandilands, 52, swiftly hit back at Price, leaving him an intense voicemail when his attempts to contact him live on Thursday’s Kyle and Jackie O Show were futile.
“Hey you piece of sh*t, we’ve spoken before, last time you forgot that you’re not allowed to mouth off about me,” Sandilands said in the voicemail.
Sandilands continued: “Steve it’s Kyle obviously, there is probably a long list of people who ring you.
“Again just surprised at your feigned reaction on The Project, can’t you just be yourself? Can’t you just say your true thoughts? I can’t wait to see you face-to-face buddy, it’s been too long.
“It’s disappointing that as you’ve gotten older you have turned into a real piece of sh*t.
“Feel free to play this on tonight’s Project because that’s the last gig you will ever have. See you mate, by the way love the alcoholic nose, bye bro.”
Despite the brutal tone of the message, Price told Saturday’s Herald Sun he was unfazed by Sandilands’ threats.
“I described him as a grubby buffoon and that’s it, I’ve had my say, I don’t need to enter into a long debate about it,” the outspoken commentator told the publication.
“Obviously I hit a nerve, he wouldn’t have reacted otherwise.”
It comes after Sandilands and Henderson signed their record-breaking contracts live on-air Wednesday – worth a combined $200 million.
Simultaneously, KIIS FM’s Melbourne-based breakfast show Jase & Lauren, starring Jason Hawkins and Lauren Phillips, were announcing they’d copped the axe.
“This is certainly not the way we wanted to bow out,” a teary Phillips said.
“We didn’t have a choice,” she added. “It’s a business decision that we have been told is what’s happening. We don’t want to say goodbye.
“We didn’t have to be here this morning to make this announcement, but we’re here.”
