Almost nine months after her shock exit from Mix 102.3, Jodie Oddy’s getting her own show on rival station Nova 919.
She will be anchoring a Saturday morning breakfast program, The Jodie Oddy Show, from August 7.
Its 7am to 9am timeslot has lifestyle advantages for Oddy who was used to setting her alarm for 4am when she co-hosted Mix’s weekday breakfast show which aired from 6am.
“After years of early starts, that extra hour will feel like a lifetime,” Oddy said, adding the finish time also worked well with her family commitments.
“I’ll still be able to get to netball on time so my daughter (Summer) is very happy with that.”
Also a freelance journalist for Network 10’s Adelaide newsroom, Oddy will be joined by two of her TV colleagues for her new radio gig; Tiff Warne and Max Burford will provide news and sport updates.
Oddy made headlines when she quit Mix, with immediate effect but without explanation on November 19.
She recorded 82 ratings wins in the FM breakfast timeslot during her 13 years at Mix, Adelaide’s no. 1 station.
Since leaving Mix, Oddy has been a relief newsreader on Nova’s Ben & Liam breakfast show.
Nova program director Ben Latimer said The Jodie Oddy Show would be “fresh and fun” with live and local content.
“There will be nothing like it on Adelaide FM radio,” he said.
The Jodie Oddy Show can be livestreamed from around Australia.
