Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have settled their divorce, five months after the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer filed to end their two-year marriage.
According to TMZ, each star is walking away with what they individually acquired during their union and won’t pay the other spousal support.
They also reached an agreement on the US$61 million (A$97m) house they bought; however, the terms are confidential and the home is still on the market.
Lopez will be legally dropping Affleck’s last name, according to the outlet. While they reached a settlement, their divorce won’t be officially finalised until Feb. 20.
Lopez, 55, pulled the plug on their union on August 20, the same day as the anniversary of their second wedding ceremony reportedly because she wanted it to “sting,” and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind the split.
The actress listed the date of separation as April 26, 2024, confirming the months-long rumours that the two were not together when they missed significant moments like Affleck, 52, not attending J.Lo’s birthday bash in July.
The exes did not sign a prenup before walking down the aisle twice in 2022, with sources warning their divorce battle could “get ugly.”
Without a prenup, all the earnings, profits and assets Lopez and Affleck made during their union could have been considered community property. The most recent ex-Mrs. Affleck also declared her assets were “unknown” when she filed; however, it appears they worked it out in the end.
Lopez broke her silence on their divorce with Interview Magazine in a piece published on October 9, revealing she’s “excited” and “not looking for anybody.”
She also addressed the rumours that swirled around her marriage and break-up with Affleck, saying her “whole f – king world exploded.”
“I know I’m a good person. I know I’m a good mum. I know who my friends are. I know my friends know who I am, my mum, my dad, all that stuff,” she shared. “If you hope to have a long career, you have to learn how to deal with that part of the business. Some people are going to love you and some are not going to understand you, and some people just want to hate you to hate you, and none of that really matters.”
“I did all the work and look at where I am, and then it was like my whole f — ing world exploded,” she added, referencing her split and the cancellation of her summer 2024 tour.
Lopez and Affleck might not be in bed together anymore — but they’re still doing business.
The actress recently starred in the movie Unstoppable, which she co-produced with Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company.
Unstoppable is the true story of wrestler Anthony Robles. Lopez plays Robles’ mother in the film.
She attended the Toronto International Film Festival for the premiere on September 6, and Affleck decided to sit the debut out; however, his best friend Damon showed up and was spotted having an intimate conversation with J.Lo.
Her divorce from Affleck marks No. 4 for Lopez. Before Affleck, she married actor Ojani Noa from 1997-1998, backup dancer Cris Judd in 2002 and singer Marc Anthony, with whom she shares 16-year-old twins Emme and Max, from 2004-2014.
Affleck was famously married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018. They have three children: Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 12.
While their blended family didn’t work, Lopez and Affleck were seen a handful of times during the divorce process with their children — even attending a back-to-school night together in Sept. and a handsy, PDA-filled lunch with the posse.
This is the second time the exes have ended their romance.
Lopez and Affleck started dating in 2002 after they starred in the rom-com flop “Gigli.” They announced their engagement shortly after and were set for a Sept. 2003 wedding; however, they postponed the ceremony days before walking down the aisle.
Bennifer announced their split in 2004 before giving their love another shot in 2021.
After rekindling their relationship, Lopez and Affleck tied the knot at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas in July 2022. They said “I do” in front of their close family and friends during a second wedding ceremony at the Oscar winner’s Riceboro, Georgia, home the following month.
