‘Hardships’: Jennifer Lopez makes frank admission after Ben Affleck split

Jennifer Lopez has appeared to reference her divorce from Ben Affleck in a candid conversation about her life.

Jennifer Lopez is reflecting on how she overcomes “hardships” in what appears to be a reference to her divorce from Ben Affleck after their short-lived marriage.

“I think the way I overcome things is not by thinking of them as happening to me but happening for me and what is the lesson that needs to be learned in the moment,” the star told British Vogue while discussing her new sports drama film, Unstoppable.

“When I think of things that way and stay in a kind of a more positive mindset about it, it’s easier to kind of embrace it for the lesson that it is.”

“Because that’s really what our hardships are in life,” she continued. “What am I supposed to learn here?”

“There are no coincidences. This is not happening, you know, just randomly. It’s happening for a reason.”

The 55-year-old said in times of trouble she asks herself, “What can I learn and how can I come out the other side better, stronger, more knowledgeable and kind of evolve and grow from this point?”

Her comments came after a turbulent 2024 for the star during which her two-year marriage to Affleck imploded.

Lopez and Affleck had shocked the world by rekindling their romance years after their original break-up in 2004.

They tied the knot in 2022 but by 2024 they were rumoured to be living separate lives.

Lopez recently opened up about how she grew from her split from Affleck and finally learned her lesson.

“I think to myself … ‘Thank you, god. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times. I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it,’” she candidly reflected while chatting with Interview magazine.

The stunning star, who has been married four times, said she has learned that is she is “capable of joy and happiness” all by herself.

Despite the split, Lopez and Affleck remain amicable. They recently came together with Affleck’s first wife, Jennifer Garner, to support his 15-year-old, Seraphina, as well as Lopez and Marc Anthony’s child Emme, 16, in a school play.

An insider told Page Six: “Ben and Jennifer are still connected and they do communicate when it involves their kids.”
