Inside Rebecca Judd’s career, Chris Judd marriage and kids

She is one of Melbourne’s biggest social media influencers and arguably Australia’s number one WAG — and the public’s fascination with Rebecca Judd remains strong. Here’s why.

Dan Andrews rubbishes Bec Judd’s claim that she ‘feels unsafe’ in her $7.3 million mansion

Rebecca Judd became a household name since she started dating AFL star Chris Judd, and over the next almost 20 years, the model has learned how to deal with the public scrutiny — and isn’t afraid to voice her own opinions.

From her stance on Covid lockdowns to spruiking $2 Kmart bowls, the WAG, mum of four, TV presenter and entrepreneur — affectionately known as Bec — has come a long way from her modest upbringing in Western Australia.

Most recently in May 2022, the social media influencer made headlines when she expressed her concerns about a spate of frightening crimes in her home suburb of Brighton, an affluent part of Melbourne.

“The state government don’t seem to care. We feel unsafe. I personally know two women who have experienced home invasions in Brighton in the last few weeks while they were at home,” she told her 788k followers on Instagram.

It sparked some support as well as criticism, which Judd has been dealing with when she was still Rebecca Twigley, who shot to fame wearing THAT dress to the Brownlows in 2004.

We take a look at Judd’s personal and professional history.

Who is Bec Judd?

Judd, whose maiden name was Twigley, is a model, TV presenter and wife of former West Coast Eagles and Carlton AFL player Chris Judd.

The high-profile couple have four children together — son Oscar, daughter Billie and twin sons Tom and Darcy after they married in 2010.

She is considered a fashion icon as well as a social media influencer with a huge following.

Background

Judd’s parents Kerry and Hugh moved to Western Australia from New Zealand in the late 1980s. Her mum is half-Maori and her dad’s is of Scottish/Irish descent. Rebecca Twigley was born in January 1983 and she also has a sister Kate.

Her parents split amicably when Judd was four and she moved from the crayfishing and mining town Leeman to the outer suburbs of Perth, where she spent the rest of her childhood.

Her dad remarried and she has a stepbrother and stepsister.

She attended Kent Street Senior High School and then later studied speech and language pathology at La Trobe University, before working as a speech therapist from 2008.

Personal life

Judd became the number one WAG since she shot to fame wearing the eye-popping red plunging dress to the Brownlow’s in 2004, which essentially helped her launch her alternate careers.

She dated Chris for many years and supported his AFL career. The couple married on New Year’s Eve in 2010, when she was 10 weeks pregnant with their first child.

She made the move from Perth to Melbourne to be with Chris and their family continued to grow — with Oscar born in July 2011, Billie in February 2014 and their twin boys Tom and Darcy were born in September 2016.

In an interview with Stellar Magazine in 2021, she discussed what it was really like being in the public spotlight.

“I feel like, since having a public profile when I was 20 when I started dating my husband (Chris), I’ve had this noise; It’s not going to go away, it’s going to continue,” Judd said at the time.

“So you live with it and move on. Things pop up all the time. It’s not the first time, it’s not going to be the last and you just roll with the punches and move on.”

In September 2019, the family of six moved to a $7.3m home they bought — and then extensively renovated — in Brighton and that a lavish house-warming party dubbed ‘Juddchella’.

Career

After finishing high school in 2000, Judd left Perth to pursue modelling in Asia for three years, where she travelled to places including Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea.

She later started her career as a speech pathologist in 2008 after graduating from La Trobe University.

But since her relationship with Judd and her move from Perth to Melbourne early on in their relationship, Judd has had a variety of careers ranging from being the host of Nine Network travel show Postcards to being a presenter on KIIS FM’s show 3pm Pick Up. She is also the author of parenting guide The Baby Bible.

One thing I don’t mind sharing at all is what products I like. If I find something good, I’m one of those people who needs to tell the world about it – whether it’s a fab face cream, a pair of sneakers or those $2 bowls from Kmart,” she wrote at the time.

“They are still the best bowls I’ve got at my house! I think that’s why I have this influence where things sell out; people believe me and it’s authentic. I never post things [on social media] I’m not into. It’s aspirational but still attainable, and I’m always conscious of that.”

Controversies

While her latest view of saying she feels “unsafe” in the posh leafy suburbs in Brighton divided the public, which sparked Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews to respond to her claims during a press conference.

Judd also hit out at Mr Andrews for the strict Covid lockdown in 2020 wearing a ‘Free Melbourne’ T-shirt in a social media post as she suffered through lockdown in her $7 million plus mansion.

Over the years, she has also made headlines for simply being too skinny, and in 2021 for allegedly giving away PJs gifted to her by Melbourne influencer Lorinska Merrington to the Salvos.

Also according to The Herald Sun’s Page 13, there was the heavily sponsored WAG trip to music festival Coachella.
