Chrissie Swan tries iconic pie floater in Adelaide

Radio star Chrissy Swan embraced South Australian culture during a trip to the state as she sampled famous local food and drink.

Radio star Chrissie Swan sampled the iconic South Australian pie floater and even washed it down with one of the state’s favourite drinks as she made the trip for a wedding.

In a video posted to Swan’s Instagram account, the radio personality and her executive producer Jack Charles chowed down on the local delicacy before washing it down with a Farmer’s Union Iced Coffee.

Swan was full of praise for the humble pie floater.

“It’s so delicious,” she said.

“It’s like baby food,” Charles said of the texture of the dish.

“It’s actually not as bad as I thought it was going to be.”

But Swan originally ducked into South Australia for the now Mrs and Mr – Kristie and Andy – Nash’s nuptials at Turkey Flat Vineyards in Tanunda.

It all came about when the then bride-to-be invited Swan, who hosts her own national show on the Nova Network, to be part of their big day.

While it sounds random, it really wasn’t.

Kristie has been a fan for ages. When Melbourne’s Chrissie, Sam & Browny breakfast show wrapped at the end of last year, she flew herself over to the tram city to be in the crowd for its farewell outside broadcast. Kristie even took bottles of wine for the team.

After being invited to the wedding, Chrissie and Charles came up with a plan, as she explained to Kristie on-air last week.

“We’ve been organising things behind the scenes for you,” Chrissie told her, later adding: “I’ve always harboured a desire to be the person that says ‘and ladies and gentleman please put your hands together for blah’. I’m wondering can we have that part of your reception duties.”

And that’s how Chrissie ended up introducing the bride and groom to the room.

Congratulations Kristie and Andrew Nash!
