One of Adelaide’s favourite daughters Carrie Bickmore is back in town for another big gig.
The former host of The Project was in the crowd at Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Tuesday night to see British superstar Sting.
Review: Sting’s simply stunning show in Adelaide
The concert outing followed Bickmore being in the audience at Sam Smith’s exclusive show at d’Arenberg Cube in McLaren Vale last month.
Seated towards the front of the Ent Cent, Bickmore was singing along and filming Sting – just like everyone else.
But she made a point of leaving the show early – slipping out quietly before Every Breath You Take, which was among Sting’s final numbers.
On Wednesday Bickmore was spotted enjoying a morning coffee with her radio co-host Tommy Little by the beach at Somerton. An onlooker who snapped this pic said the two – who co-host the national drive show for the Hit Network, heard on SAFM here – appeared to be very comfortable in one another’s company.
“They looked cosy,” the source said.
While Bickmore didn’t post any pics from Sting’s show, the Carrie & Tommy Insta account shared a happy snap of her taken at SAFM.
Bickmore took to social media on January 18 to announce she had split with her husband Chris Walker after more than a decade.
“It’s with immense sadness that Chris and I have decided to separate,” she said in a statement on Instagram. “While this is a tough time, our focus is on parenting, loving and supporting our three children Ollie, Evie and Addie with everything we’ve got. They are doing great.”
During his onstage banter while introducing Fields of Gold, Sting invited the Adelaide audience to visit his house near Stonehenge, which he admitted was more like a castle.
Sting said his fans could knock on the door and he would make them a cup of tea.
He then corrected himself, saying his wife Trudie Styler would do the honours because “I’ll be on tour”.
Promising to play here again as he took his final bow, Sting also revealed his fondness for Adelaide; he had gone for a swim at Henley Beach and taken a walk around the Torrens.
Sting was also spotted soaking up the sun shirtless at Port Willunga’s famous Star of Greece restaurant during The Police’s 2008 tour.
