SA fitness queen Kayla Itsines has a new man in her life – but there’s a twist to the budding romance.

The multi-millionaire personal trainer is dating Adelaide’s Jae Woodroffe, who until recently was in a long-term relationship with one of Itsines’s friends.

The Sunday Mail understands Woodroffe and his girlfriend of about five years, Lauren Belotti, were neighbours with Itsines in Malvern. The trio became close, even holidaying together in Queensland in May.

Belotti posted photos of herself with Itsines on social media during the trip, and with then-boyfriend Woodroffe alongside the Itsines family.

At the time, it’s believed Itsines – who has over 13.5 million Instagram followers – was seeing another man, a local videographer called Mitch.

Just months later, love appears to have blossomed between Itsines and Woodroffe, who split with Belotti before starting a relationship with the Sweat app co-founder.

The new couple have been spotted around Adelaide in recent weeks, working out together at the gym and going for walks with Itsines’s two-year old daughter Arna.

Car enthusiast Woodroffe is involved with SA Living Solutions, a not-for-profit organisation which provides accommodation for people in need.

In July, Itsines announced she had sold Sweat, the health and fitness app she started with ex-fiance Tobi Pearce, to US software giant iFIT for about $400m.

Itsines and Pearce, who continue to lead Sweat from Adelaide, announced their amicable separation in August 2020 after eight years together, saying they would remain business partners, “good friends and devoted parents” to Arna.

Itsines revealed in May that she was dating a new mystery man who had made her “super happy”.

“It’s early days, so I won’t share too much. But I’m super happy. We have a strong sense of family and a love for fitness (in common),” she told Women’s Health magazine.

Ms Belotti declined to comment. Ms Itsines’s PR representatives were contacted for comment.

Meantime, the reopening of gyms and fitness studios is proving a challenge for Sweat, with subscription revenue in its largest market, the US, taking a hefty hit.

Financial statements lodged with ASIC reveal the company fell just short of $100m in revenue in the 12 months to June, which ended with its $400m takeover by US fitness giant iFIT on June 30.

Subscription revenue in the US slumped by 16.1 per cent to $45m, but gains in Australia, Europe and other overseasmarkets meant total revenue was only 1 per cent lower at $98.6 million.

A pre-tax loss of $11.7m included transaction costs of $11.6 million, as Adelaide co-founders Pearce and Itsines tied up the sale to iFIT. It compares to a pre-tax loss of $7.5m in the previous year.

Pearce and Itsines took away $1.75m in dividends during the year.

Pearce, who remained Sweat’s chief executive following the sale, said Covid-19 had fuelled fierce competition in the US digitalfitness market, and coupled with the reopening of gyms, it was having an impact on US subscriptions.

“The performance did drop in the US,” he said.

“I think as well as a result of Covid, the increased competition and the rate of increase in competition was very significant.
