‘Dynamic duo’ David King and Kane Cornes now locked in with SEN
David King has said he and Fireball co-host Kane Cornes “see the world differently” as he makes a big call on his future at SEN.
David King has put pen to paper and joined co-host Kane Cornes in re-signing with SEN.
Last month Cornes announced a long-term deal to remain with SEN until the end of 2029.
And King has locked in a further three years to remain part of Fireball with Kane & Kingy on SEN Breakfast, Mondays and Fridays.
“I think it started out a bit testy, I don’t know if he liked me, I don’t know if I liked him for the first couple of years,” King said.
“We see the world differently. He’s a non-drinking, marathon runner. I’m a non-running marathon drinker. It’s why we work so well together.”
The news comes on the back of the Herald Sun’s reports there was interest from Southern Cross Austereo and its podcast arm, Listnr, in poaching the Fireball program.
Sam Thompson, Group Radio Director at SEN, said: “David King’s recommitment is a huge win for SEN and our audience. Alongside Kane Cornes, Kingy brings unmatched insight and energy to Fireball, and we’re thrilled to lock in this dynamic duo for years to come.”
Elsewhere, Dane Swan has hung up his microphone with the Hump Day with Swanny & Friends podcast to take a break.
After seven years and 431 episodes, Swan and co-hosts Ralph Horowitz and Samantha Riches recorded their final episode this week.
Former Collingwood star Swan will head to the US with his partner Taylor and their three children for the Summer.
“We’re keeping the socials open, just in case the band gets back together,” Horowitz said.
