Daniel MacPherson says Adelaide is like a second home for him as his relationship with SA model mum Jessica Dover continues to blossom.
The Australian actor is preparing to star in acclaimed theatre thriller The Woman In Black, which will come to Adelaide’s Dunstan Playhouse for a two-week season from May 15.
MacPherson says he loves spending time in SA – where partner Dover and her son Sebastian are based – and can’t wait to return for an extended period.
“I’ve spent many years where work has taken me all around the world... so to be able to come back to Adelaide, where I’m obviously enjoying it and it’s a second home for me now, it’s fantastic,” said the former Dancing with The Stars host, who was in Adelaide for a brief holiday last week.
“There’s also hopefully another project which might bring me back down there so the universe is conspiring to keep Jess and I together, which is making us both very happy – it’s great.”
The couple have been dating long distance for over a year.
Dover, a model, social media influencer and podcast host, was previously on Seven’s House Rules, where she starred alongside her ex-partner Jared Petrenko. The pair split suddenly in early 2021.
Best known for roles in TV shows Neighbours and City Homicide, MacPherson described Dover as a “great supporter”.
“It’s going very well,” he said.
MacPherson will star alongside John Waters in The Woman In Black, a ghostly tale which is the second longest-running play in London’s West End history, after Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap.
The play comes after he featured in another supernatural West End hit, 2:22 A Ghost Story, last year.
“I must be half decent at scaring people,” MacPherson laughed.
“I love the challenge of theatre, it’s so enjoyable, the discipline... and I love the anxiety of it. The scariness of stepping out on stage for two hours live every night in front of 2,000 people. That scares me but I thrive on it, I love it.”
MacPherson will also feature in an upcoming action movie Land of Bad, alongside Liam and Luke Hemsworth, Milo Ventimiglia and Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe.
MacPherson said he worked closely with Crowe on the film, which is set for release next month.
“I got to work every day with Russell, just him and I on set, for a couple of weeks straight,” he said.
“It was incredible, I’ve learned a lot from him. Russell is undoubtedly one of the one of the finest actors of his generation. He’s been a wonderful friend, mentor and co-star.”
