VETERAN TV newsreader Graeme Goodings is back doing what he does best — and he couldn’t be happier.

More than three years after his shock axing from Channel 7, Goodings has joined his son Will at radio station FIVEaa, taking a part-time role reading the Saturday morning news bulletins.

“When the opportunity came up to read a little bit of news, I thought I’d give it a try and I really enjoyed it, I loved it,” he said, after his first shift last weekend. “News reading is something I’ve done for so many years, it’s only natural to miss it ... that contact, the feedback you get from people. I’ve already had some fabulous feedback from the public.”

Goodings, who started his career on radio at 5DN in Adelaide before spending 34 years at Seven, said he was excited to be at the same station as Will, co-host of the brekkie show with David Penberthy.

“It’s really nice. Father and son on air at the same station,” he said.
