A Showdown prank for the ages

There’s more than four points and bragging rights on the line in Saturday night’s Showdown between the Crows and Power.

Adelaide radio station Mix 102.3 has gone behind enemy lines for a special Showdown week prank, installing a large photo mural of Port Adelaide star Travis Boak in Crow Tom Lynch’s home and vice versa – all without their knowledge.

The player whose team loses the Showdown will have to keep the image up in his home for a month.

Boak said he was stunned when he walked into his cinema room to see Lynch’s giant face celebrating a goal.

“This is my favourite room in the house. I had no idea,” he said.

“It was a bit of a shock but it actually doesn’t look too bad, apart from the colours … it’s a lot of red.

“If it was to be any Crows player on my wall, it’d be Lynchy. I’m glad it’s him.”

Mix 102.3 breakfast duo Mark Soderstrom and Jodie Oddy enlisted the help of Boak’s sister, Cassie, and Lynch’s wife, Courtney, to pull off the elaborate surprise.

“What a genuine stitch-up. I come home after a good win against Fremantle ready for a good week and I have to deal with this,” said Lynch.

“Well done to him (Boak) on his 250th (game) last week, he’s a great player but I’d prefer not to have him in my lounge room.”

To add insult to injury, it’s understood Lynch – and teammates Rory Atkins, Alex Keath and Darcy Fogarty – had to endure a prearranged dinner in front of Boak’s photo this week.

Boak said he would employ avoidance tactics.

“I’m going to lock this door for the week and not even come in here,” he said.
