His show has been branded the Fyre Festival of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.

Local designer Justin Cassin had the fashion set talking for all the wrong reasons this week when he put on a disastrous show at Luna Park on Wednesday night.

While the show was not nearly as problematic as the failed “luxury music festival” Fyre Festival, Cassin’s hyped show at Luna Park also over-promised and under delivered.

Sunday Confidential can reveal it wasn’t only VIP attendees who were furious after the show started two hours late, but the models, who we can reveal included Pia Miller’s son Isaiah, were also disgruntled.

The conditions “were among the worst one of my models had ever seen,” according to one insider.

“There was no food, nothing to sit on, they weren’t allowed out of the venue and there were no catering facilities,” the source said.

“The models call time was 2pm and they didn’t walk out until 8pm.

“And to add insult to injury, they only got paid $250 to walk in the show.”

Many fashion editors, publicists and stylists were left scratching their heads as to who exactly Cassin was and how he had the $60,000-plus needed to be a part of MBFWA.

His Wikipedia page claims he has stockists in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, China, South Korea and Japan, but when quizzed as to where exactly he is stocked, Cassin, 33, was vague stating, “I am stocked in Singapore in Robinsons and I am also in Malaysia and also in Japan and Thailand.”

A quick search shows they don’t stock his brand online.

As for Australia, he has three items stocked with The Iconic, but is nowhere else to be seen.

Cassin this week acknowledged the lacklustre show saying: “Obviously when you have an event that big there are going to be some issues.

“Unfortunately there was a bit of a wait. Hopefully everyone got in eventually and enjoyed the show. I am sorry for the hold up.”
