Model Victoria Lee shows her support for Australian Wool Week

Australian model and David Jones ambassador Victoria Lee said our local wool industry is 100 per cent natural, renewable and biodegradable and is encouraging people to wear wool and support our Australian farmers as she promotes Wool Week.

Australia famously used to ride on the sheep’s back — and Australian fashion lovers are being urged to get back on board.

The fashion industry has a bad reputation thanks to unsustainable environmental practises but Australian model and David Jones ambassador Victoria Lee said our local wool industry is 100 per cent natural, renewable and biodegradable.

“Australia produces 90 per cent of the world’s fine wool for apparel, essentially supplying the fibre to the entire global fashion industry, I don’t think many people know that,” Lee said.

Lee, who was born and raised in Narrandera in NSW, said she is happy to be at a point in her career where she can choose which brands she works with.

The 28-year-old said being sustainable and kind to the environment are vital.

“For me personally, the environment and being sustainable is a huge passion of mine,” she said.
“Growing up in Narrandera, I had the wonderful experience of growing up in such a pristine environment and I know how fortunate we are to grow up and live here in Australia.

“I think we should support and encourage everyone to do as much as they can to be sustainable and look after our environment.”

Wool Week officially kicks off tomorrow and runs until May 26.

“Wool Week is a celebration of Australian wool and David Jones are partners of The Wool company and really promoting and encouraging people to wear wool and support our Australian farmers,” she said.

“We are all in this together and Australia is really known for supporting one another.

“Australian farmers work so hard and are so passionate.”
