Hollywood star Jai Courtney won the hearts of locals during a recent night out at a popular Port Augusta pub.
The Suicide Squad star, who’s in SA to shoot Cate Blanchett’s new TV miniseries Stateless, easily mingled with several young fans and happily posed for photographs at Hotel Augusta on Loudon Rd last Friday night.
Jai even got behind the bar and pretended to pour a beer for a couple of friendly locals.
“I just said, ‘Can you make out you’re going to pour a beer and we’ll take a photo of you behind our bar to hang up on our wall’”, a spokeswoman for the pub told Confidential.
“He’s a genuine nice guy, he just came in to have a beer.
“He had all the time in the world for everyone. He spoke to everyone in the pub.”
As word spread of his appearance, many young fans of the Aussie actor headed to the bar to catch a glimpse of the superstar, who was there with about 30 cast and crew.
Mia Dunning, 17, said Jai couldn’t have been nicer.
“He came right up to us and we talked to him for a bit about filming and previous movies he’d been in before he offered to take some photos,” she said
“He said he’s enjoyed being in SA and that he thought Port Augusta was a nice town.”
Jai, whose longtime girlfriend and rumoured fiancee Mecki Dent is originally from SA, will spend the next three weeks in Port Augusta shooting ABC’s six-part series, which also stars Asher Keddie, Yvonne Strahovski and Dominic West.
