‘A proud moment for Australia’: Senate passes laws against cyber abuse

TV presenter Erin Molan is struggling with being separated from her sick father Jim during Sydney’s lockdown.

The 2Day FM host had planned to travel with her daughter Eliza, three, to Royalla last week, where her parents Liberal Senator for NSW Jim and Anne live, to help her father as he undergoes chemotherapy treatment for prostate cancer but she was forced to cancel her trip due to stay-at-home-orders.

“Eliza and I were meant to be spending this week at Mum and Dad’s,” Molan wrote on Instagram.

“I try and get there as often as I can to help them get through a really tough time … every couple of weeks or so Dad’s cancer treatment knocks him around pretty badly.

“Like so many other people … being separated when a loved one is sick is truly awful … my heart goes out to Anthony McCormick - his cross on the @thetodayshow was heartbreaking. Similar sentiment for those losing their jobs, businesses and livelihoods. Can we please all just do whatever we can to get through this as quickly as possible.”

McCormick recently made headlines after it was revealed that his mother died while he was waiting on an exemption request from Queensland Health.

He was granted a quarantine exception from NSW Health after returning home from Canada but he was unable to enter Queensland.

On Sunday, NSW recorded 77 new local Covid-19 cases and one death as Greater Sydney prepared to enter its third week of lockdown.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she expects “much worse” is to come before things improve.

In April, former Army general Mr. Molan, 71, announced that he had been diagnosed with “aggressive” cancer.

“While this news has come as a shock, I have many reasons to be positive,” Mr Molan said at the time.
