Elton John’s bringing his Farewell Yellow Brick Road to Adelaide – here’s everything you need to know

The legendary Sir Elton John has landed in Adelaide ahead of his two Farewell Yellow Brick Road shows tonight and tomorrow. Here’s everything you need to know – and what not to bring.

Don’t be late, get out of your chair and dance and don’t buy your tickets from Viagogo – that’s the advice from legendary Aussie rock promoter Michael Chugg ahead of Wednesday night’s Elton John concert.

As an army of workers bumped in the enormous structure nicknamed the “mammoth stage” to Botanic Park yesterday in preparation for the first of two farewell shows in Adelaide, Chugg said punters should be prepared for two very special nights.

“These are the third and fourth shows of the 40-show tour, so there’s still a long way to go,” he said. “But Perth was amazing, just magical.”

Chugg, who has brought Sir Elton to Australia nine times, said Adelaide’s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road shows would be the 16th and 17th times the British singer had played in the City of Churches.

“We’ve just put a some amazing seats back on sale, and there are a few $119 tickets left,” Chugg said. “Gates open at 4pm and Elton starts at 8pm sharp, so don’t be late.”

Chugg confirmed that up to 100 fans were turned away from this week’s Perth concerts after tickets they purchased through online ticket reseller Viagogo turned out to be invalid.

He urged people not to buy tickets from the site, and expressed disappointment that Google had again allowed the company to buy its way to the top of its search engine results, after recently banning the practice.

One thing security won’t do is tell punters at Botanic Park to sit down.

“One thing that Elton has said is that if people want to stand in front of their chairs and dance then he would enjoy that,” Chugg said.

And due to public demand standard camping chairs will be permitted in the General Admission Standing in the Park area. Just don’t try to bring banana/sun lounges or other lie-flat chairs, deck chairs, reclining chairs, beanbags, blow-up air chairs, inflatables, pop up chairs or lounges, which are all no-no's.
