Don’t expect much reality when Channel 9 launches its new season of dating show Married At First Sight.
Former contestant Dean Wells knows first hand, calling out producers he claims unfairly edited the show to portray him as a misogynist.
“I have spoken out about the editing and the manipulation that goes on behind the scenes and the way they portrayed me,” Wells told Confidential.
“They pretty much did a number on me and portrayed me as a sexist misogynist arsehole, which is completely not true.”

It was revealed earlier this month that Wells and fellow former MAFS contestants from different seasons including Telv Williams, Carly Bowyer and Melissa Walsh had been banned from the shows official Instagram account.
“I have done a few videos on my Youtube about all of that stuff and I don’t think Channel 9 is too happy about that because it is us pulling back the curtain and revealing the truth behind what goes on with these shows,” explained Wells, who is guest ‘star behind the bar’ at Planar Bar & Dining in Darling Harbour tomorrow night from 6.30pm.
“They don’t want us speaking out so they blocked us all.”
Nine has heavily promoted the upcoming sixth season, selling a story of a 26-year-old virgin, which Wells finds hard to believe.
“That is what they are saying although I don’t know whether to believe it. It seems a bit suss. I haven’t seen those words come out of his mouth. I have seen the edits and the promos but until I see those words come out of his mouth, I don’t believe it.”
Meanwhile, Wells confirmed his bromance with fellow former MAFS contestant Ryan Gallagher was over after the pair fell out in December.
At the time, single Wells was a guest at a party, where Gallaghers ex girlfriend Alya was also in attendance.
“I haven’t talked to him since then,” he said. “I am just moving on. I can’t have drama like that in my life. I’ve just got to move on from it.”
