IN THE strongest sign yet they’ve committed their future to Adelaide, Crows stars Patrick Dangerfield, Taylor Walker and Rory Sloane have bought into The Alma Hotel in Norwood.

The high-profile trio replace former Crows champ Simon Goodwin and join new Adelaide board member Mark Ricciuto as part owners of the pub, which has recently undergone an extensive renovation.

Rory says he always had his eye on owning a business but was waiting for the right opportunity to present itself.

“Roo caught up with myself, Tex and Danger and pitched it to us...it’s going to be awesome to learn from Roo about business and to have something to do outside of football,” Rory says.

“The renovations have come up amazingly, we’re all that excited about it. There’s a new feel to it. It feels like our pub and it’s going to be great to see it grow. I reckon Tex will be sleeping there during the off-season.”

Tex, Danger and Rory all come out of contract at the end of next season and Rory admits it would be great for all three of them to stay in Adelaide.

“That’s the plan, we want to build a really strong team and really strong culture and just have that success here. If we all stay together, the more success we’ll have so it would great if that can happen,” Rory says.

Roo – who will be a special guest at The Advertiser Foundation and Channel 7 Grand Final Luncheon on September 24 – says with Bombers assistant coach ‘Goody’ settled in Melbourne, it was the ideal time to bring some new blood into the Magill Road watering hole.

“We want partners that are contributing and Goody’s over there so he can’t do it...he’s in Melbourne and out there for a while,” he says. “And I’m getting a bit older and with five kids, I can’t be at the pub all the time.”
