“Every tear, every heartbreak and every hurdle that I have gone through in this industry, it is a sigh of relief that I will soak up every moment of, it is a massive achievement and that isn’t lost on me.”
He added: “I am the overnight success that has taken a lifetime.”
Life has been several years in the making for Sewell, who previously topped the singles charts with his song Start Again and has enjoyed massive success here and overseas with radio hits Who You Lovin and Hold Me Up.
The album includes his hits Healing Hands and Cone Clean and tells Sewell’s story of overcoming his demons and addiction.
“I had to get to this point personally where I could open up this much,” he explained. “
It is not going to be as long before I put another album out. This is the start for me, now the ball is rolling and I am centred and working hard, I am ready. I know it is hard work. I am going to work my arse off and take care of myself.”
Usually based in Los Angeles, Sewell is currently touring the country and will play Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Saturday.
