Adelaide United’s Jordan Elsey admits proposing to girlfriend Megan Ryanwas more nerve-racking than taking a penalty in the club’s A League semi-final last month.
Jordan, 25, popped the question to his partner of over seven years, Megan Ryan, during a surprise dinner at the New York Bar and Grill in Tokyo, Japan, this week.
“We had a beautiful dinner and I was waiting for the dessert to come out which had “Megan will you marry me” written on it and then I stood up and got down on one knee and asked her,” says Jordan, who scored in the club’s heartbreaking penalty shootout loss to Perth.
“I was more nervous to propose than I was to take the penalty in the semi final against Perth Glory.
“She got a little teary and said yes, of course.”
Signed with Finesse Models, Megan represented South Australia at the 2016 Miss Universe Australia final.
United winger Nikola Mileusnic has also become engaged on his off-season break.
Nikola chose the Eiffel Tower in the city of love, Paris, as the backdrop for his romantic proposal to longtime love Masa Smiljanic.
“And … the adventure begins with my beautiful Marv,” he captioned a photo of the pair moments after he got down on bended knee, inset.
