Staggering cost of Heidi Klum’s ‘disappointing’ Halloween costume
SUPERMODEL Heidi Klum’s Halloween look disappointed many fans, but it came with a sky-high price tag and after many hours of work.
IT’S been revealed that Heidi Klum’s Halloween costume, which saw five models cloned to look like her, cost a staggering $12 million.
The designer who was responsible for the creation explained it cost so much as it was “like doing Heidi five times”, The Sun reports.
Mike Marino of Prosthetic Renaissance told TooFab it took a crew of seven people to recreate “Heidi” on the other models.
He said that a master cast of Heidi’s face was taken, then a special mask was made for each of the girls chosen to appear as the supermodel.
Mike said: “Anyone can actually be Heidi if they wear this mask. But, the eye shapes of each girl will show through. That I cannot change. There’s really only one Heidi, and her eyes tell it all!”
He also said the costume was all the America’s Got Talent judge’s idea: “There’s no changing Heidi’s mind one she sees it in her head. But that’s what I like about working with her. She knows what she wants very clearly.”
Mike also defended the mum-of-four against claims she had underwhelmed after previously dressing up as Jessica Rabbit.
He said: “She didn’t drop the ball. People are hard on celebrities and have big expectations. They forget that it’s all fun in the end and Heidi always has it.
“She certainly surprised everyone with it, so I guess it turned out to be unpredictable. Which goes hand-in-hand with originality.”
The clones and Heidi arrived in a large wooden box with stickers Made In Germany plastered all over it.
While it wasn’t quite as dramatic a transformation as in recent years, it certainly got people talking and looked like a lot of work had gone in to it.
Not only did the women all have their faces made up like the supermodel but they were dressed in identical attire.
Revealing her incredible figure, Heidi wore a nude body suit with gold studded detailing and a belt, which accentuated her waist.
The sexy number was teamed with fishnet tights and over the knee nude suede boots.
Making sure there matchy matchy looks took centre stage the clones and Klum spent time posing on the red carpet from all angles — showing that no detail had been missed.
The supermodel is a huge fan of Halloween, and has been trying out more and more lavish costumes since 2001.
She has also previously dressed up as a butterfly, an old lady, Cleopatra, an ape and a body with” the first layer of skin ripped off”.
Speaking to Boston Common about why she loves Halloween so much, Heidi said: “When I came to New York City, I was surprised there weren’t any really great Halloween parties, and I decided, I’m going to make that my night, and I’m going to set the bar really high and come with the craziest outfits.
“It’s a fun night for people to step out of their comfort zone and wear whatever makeup and hairdo they want — I always say the scarier the better.”
