Prince Harry Spare memoir reveals war between Meghan Markle and Kate over ‘brain’ comment

The Duke of Sussex has taken a swipe at Catherine, after revealing how a comment Meghan Markle made about her “baby brain” led to a bitter spat.

The Duke of Sussex has taken a swipe at his sister-in-law Catherine, claiming her sensitivity at being told she had “baby brain because of her hormones” resulted in a royal telling off for Meghan Markle.

In his 557-page memoir Spare, slated for release on 10 January, Prince Harry

recalls an incident in the lead up to his wedding in May 2018 where the Duchess of Sussex allegedly told the Princess of Wales that she must have “baby brain”.

The moment that triggered the unresolved feud between Ms Markle and Kate centred on a phone call about the timing of the wedding rehearsals and the flower girl dresses.

Catherine had given birth to Prince Louis a month earlier and Prince Harry writes that Ms Markle told her she must have ‘’baby brain’’ because of her hormones.

During all three of her pregnancies, the Princess of Wales suffered from chronic nausea and vomiting known as hyperemesis gravidarum caused by a hormone imbalance and was left reportedly upset by the comment.

In his autobiography, Prince Harry claims Ms Markle was told she wasn’t close enough to Kate to make flippant remarks and that she apologised saying that is how she speaks with her friends.

Prince Harry wrote that Prince William “pointed a finger at Meg”, then allegedly said: “Well, it’s rude, Meghan. These things are not done here.”

To which the Duchess responded: “If you don’t mind, keep your finger out of my face.”

It was around this time reports had surfaced in the media that the former Suits star had drawn tears from Kate – and several weeks later Prince William and Kate were summoned for a “meeting” at Prince Harry’s home.

Ms Markle first discussed the row with Kate during her interview with Oprah Winfrey two years ago.

When the chat show host asked if reports were true that she reduced Kate to tears, Ms Markle replied saying ‘the reverse happened’, adding: ‘It made me cry and it really hurt my feelings.

“It was a really hard week of the wedding and she was upset about something but she owned it and she apologised.”

The Sussexes were said to be angry that Kate and Prince William’s press team had not corrected media reports that it was Ms Markle who was left in tears, the book reports.

The book claims they would not issue a statement clarifying what had happened because it would put the Queen in an awkward position.

As well as two book TV appearances with Anderson Cooper in the US and Tom Bradby for Britain’s ITV, Harry has secured a third interview to American broadcaster Michael Strahan next week to coincide with Tuesday’s book launch.
