Meghan Markle sported an evil eye pendant – a symbol of “protection from negative vibes” – during a new interview, giving a stirring style statement about life after Megxit.

The Duchess of Sussex, 38, was seen wearing the £135 ($A256) 18K gold-plated charm from Edge of Ember, as she wished a young woman luck with a job interview, during a video call with Smart Works.

Last month Meghan, volunteered to speak about her patronage Smart Works, which provides clothing and coaching for unemployed women with interviews.

Smart Works released a clip of the video call between Meghan – who is now based in Los Angeles – and the young woman, which took place on March 27, just before she stepped down as a senior royal.

In the clip the mum-of-one can be seen wearing the pendant which, according to its maker, “bears a blue topaz evil eye to protects its wearer from negative vibes.”

The seller adds: “It’s got your back”. This is not the first time that Meghan has relied on the evil eye symbol, having been seen wearing it during her royal tour of Africa with Prince Harry in September.

HARRY AND MEGHAN’S TEXTS REVEALED

Fresh from firing her latest shot at Britain’s tabloids, Meghan Markle’s first US television interview was shown.

But the much-hyped appearance didn’t dish any revelations about why she and Harry had skipped out of the royal family and into a new life in Los Angeles.

Instead it was to promote her first voiceover role since marrying Prince Harry, and was prerecorded last year.

The 38-year-old former Suits actress was billed as “Duchess of Sussex” in the documentary, Elephant.

“I hope that when people see this film, they realise how connected we all are, and if we had more of an awareness about the obstacles they are facing, I think we’d take care of each other, animals and this planet in a very different way,” Meghan said.

“That’s why it’s really important for me to be able to help tell that story.”

“I’m really grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of bringing the story of elephants to life,” the former Suits actor continued.

“You know, she does voiceovers,” he said, in a clip that was widely shared.

The interview’s airing comes a day after the pair was accused of “censorship” for sending a letter to four British newspapers saying they would no longer have anything to do with them.

They accused the media outlets The Daily Mail, The Sun, Daily Express and the Daily Mirror of publishing “distorted, false or invasive” stories, in a letter sent Sunday night and released by their publicist on Monday.

They wrote in the letter to newspaper editors that they were no longer willing to “offer themselves up as currency for an economy of click bait and distortion”.

Although they acknowledged “that a free press is a cornerstone to any democracy, they said they would have “zero engagement” with the tabloids.

The pair, who have long had a difficult relationship with the media, was accused of “censorship”.

“There is no escaping their actions here amount to censorship and they are setting an unfortunate example,” said Ian Murray, the executive director of Britain’s Society of Editors.

“Although the couple may no longer style themselves as working royals, they continue to be high-profile public figures and indeed have made plain their intention to continue to do so. By appearing to dictate which media they will work with and which they will ignore they, no doubt unintentionally, give succour to the rich and powerful everywhere to use their example as an excuse to attack the media when it suits them.

“The truth is that Harry and Meghan have enjoyed and continue to enjoy a huge amount of positive coverage for themselves and their causes, much of it carried in the very titles they are now targeting.”

The pair has been spotted settling into their new life in Los Angeles in recent days, including delivering meals with a charity that supports the critically ill who are at greater risk of coronavirus.

Richard Ayoub, Project Angel Food’s executive director, revealed to People magazine that Harry and Meghan performed two deliveries personally — one on Easter Sunday and one on the following Wednesday.

“They were extremely down to earth and genuinely interested in every single person they met,” Mr Ayoub said. “They engaged with our chefs, they engaged with clients — they just wanted to make sure that people felt the love and appreciation. Their goal was really to just honour our chefs and staffs and volunteers by being of service.”

HARRY ‘PLEADED WITH THOMAS MARKLE NOT TO TALK

Meanwhile, texts sent from Prince Harry to his father-in-law Thomas Markle have been revealed in documents filed in a UK high court.

Prince Harry pleaded with Mr Markle to stop speaking to the media just before he and Meghan married in 2018.

The documents filed on behalf of the Duchess of Sussex show that Prince Harry made the comments in a series of text messages to Mr Markle on May 14, 2018 — not long after he confirmed he would not be attending the wedding in Windsor on May 19.

The Prince also told him the couple weren’t angry at him for pulling out of attending their wedding, the documents show.

In a series of messages sent on May 14, 2018 Prince Harry said: “Tom, Harry again! Really need to speak to u. U do not need to apologise, we understand the circumstances but ‘going public’ will only make the situation worse.

“If u love Meg and want to make it right, please call me as there are two other options which don’t involve u having to speak to the media, who incidentally created this whole situation. So please call me so I can explain. Meg and I are not angry, we just need to speak to u. Thanks,” he wrote.

The content of the texts have been released as part of legal action the Duchess of Sussex is taking against the Mail on Sunday, for invasion of privacy and copyright infringement after the newspaper published excerpts of a handwritten letter from Meghan to her father, sent shortly after she and Prince Harry got married.

HARRY AND MEGHAN’S PRICEY LA RENTAL

Meanwhile, the couple has reportedly found a place to rent in LA near their friends Sir Elton John and David Furnish – and it’s worth a princely $A16million.

The property is in a gated community in Los Angeles with a pool and landscaped gardens, while the house also boasts a gym.

Sources told The Sun: “Meghan and Harry have been hunting for months but have yet to find their dream home.

“The market is dive-bombing at the moment so a permanent move seems some time away.

“So they have tried to make life as comfortable as possible in their rented house, and have found a wonderful complex away from prying eyes.

“It is accessible through two guarded checkpoints, and prides itself on being “paparazzi-proof”’.

Most houses here are enormous and quite a few celebs live nearby, including Sir Elton.

TMZ recently claimed that Harry and Meghan were looking at properties worth up to $A30 million in the suburb of Bel Air.

Meghan wants to be “close to the Hollywood action”, sources said.
