‘It’s a nice silver lining’: Victoria’s Secret model Gigi Hadid finally confirms she‘s expecting

After much speculation, supermodel Gigi Hadid has finally revealed the truth behind reports that she is expecting a baby with boyfriend, Zayn Malik.

Gigi Hadid has finally confirmed that she is indeed expecting a baby with Zayn Malik. The New York-based supermodel, 25, revealed the news in an interview – via video link – with American tonight show host, Jimmy Fallon.

“Obviously, you know, we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support,” Hadid told Fallon, speaking from the farm where she and Malik are quarantined with her family.

“Especially during this time, it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and together and really experience it,” the runway regular said. Gigi is said to be having a baby girl, according to family sources.

She also revealed her pregnancy craving – bagels.

“My craving has been ‘everything’ bagels,” she said.

“I eat an ‘everything’ bagel everyday and so I was already like, so excited that my birthday cake was the everything bagel.”

Gigi’s interview came after her mother Yolanda Hadid revealed she was “still shocked” and “so excited” about her daughter’s pregnancy, in an interview with a Dutch broadcaster.

“Of course we are so excited. I’m excited to become a grandmother in September especially after I lost my mom so recently,” Yolnda, 56, told Dutch broadcasting station RTL Boulevard.

“This is the beauty of life, one soul leaves us and a new one comes in. We feel very blessed,” she added.

“I can’t wait to become a grandmother.”

E! News reported that the couple are expecting a baby girl, citing family sources, though that has not been confirmed.

“At the end of the day it didn’t matter to the couple what the sex was, but now they can prepare for the new addition before she arrives,” a source told Entertainment Tonight, via E!.

According to TMZ, Hadid is 20 weeks pregnant and had been keeping the news a “secret close to her family and friends”.

The couple has so far not publicly commented on the news. This is the first baby for the Victoria’s Secret model Hadid and former One Direction member Malik, 27.

“Gigi has kept the secret close to her family and friends for a while as she’s only a few months along,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.

Earlier this week, Hadid posted photos with Malik and her sister Bella Hadid, 23, celebrating her birthday, wearing a pair of high-waisted jeans and a black turtleneck knit and showing off a hint of her baby bump.

The supermodel and the former One Direction singer began dating in 2015 and separated three years later.

Hadid and Malik sparked reconciliation rumours in December 2019 and were first spotted back together in New York the following month.

They were seen again at New York hotspot Eleven Madison Park for Malik’s birthday on January 12, and it’s understood they have been together ever since.

“I think that as I get older, well one day I’ll start a family and I don’t know if I will always be modelling,” Hadid said in an interview with i-D magazine, published in February.

“I love the creative side of fashion, it’s so fulfilling. The people I work with make me so happy, I’m so lucky to be around them. But who knows?”
