AMONG all the feats of fashion engineering at the 2016 Met Gala, one star stood out: Lady Gaga in her gravity — and, quite possibly, death — defying heels.
The star’s look was a welcome throwback to her early pop star days, given she’s spent the past year or so undergoing a sleek image overhaul, ditching the OTT garb for sleek gowns.
For the Met Ball though, she was in full pop-star mode, hair teased high, fishnets instead of pants and a shimmering, skin-tight corset/jacket combo.

But those heels. Those HEELS. Gaga tottered around the red carpet and, miraculously for a star who’s taken more than a few public tumbles thanks to her penchant for sky-high footwear, managed to stay upright at all times.
Gaga’s halter bra was an Atelier creation, with high-waisted corset shorts and Wolford fishnet stockings. All eyes were down south though, as paparazzi watched her navigate the red carpet in those impossibly high, narrow heels. Talking to reporters, she insisted she “feels comfortable” in her outfit.
Much as we’ve enjoyed Gaga’s forays into respectability over the past couple of years — the Tony Bennett jazz album, the Super Bowl national anthem, the stirring Oscars tribute — let’s hope this trash-glam look means pop Gaga is back.
